In November 1967, the United Nations Security Council adopted resolution 242 demanding withdrawal of Israeli armed forced from territories occupied in the 1967 war and a just settlement of the Palestinian refugee problem. Since then, many UN resolutions have been adopted, reaffirming the rights of Palestinians to self-determination, national independence and sovereignty, and return to their homes and properties. Israel has refused to adhere to any of these resolutions.
